What do you like about your job?
This position allows me to see all the great work that YJC is doing. I get to play a supporting role and handle some of the nitty gritty for an organization that has a great mission. It is so hard to be a young adult these days, and entry into the workforce is very difficult. I am excited to get to be a part of the wonderful mission of YJC.
Where did you work before YJC?
I was the Director of Finance for North Lawndale College Prep Charter High School. It has a great mission, there are wonderful youth at the school, and the staff is incredibly dedicated to the students and the mission.
What was your first job?
My first job was at the Little League State Headquarters in Waco, Texas. I did general office work, filled supply orders for all of the baseball teams around the state, and did anything else they needed me to do.
What did you learn from your first job?
I learned that working hard is fun and working in a team atmosphere is really rewarding and that your co-workers can become your friends.
Has your career path gone how you expected?
My career has taken turns I never would have predicted and I'm so glad! Being open to change and to the opportunities around you can make for some very interesting times.
I love the Dallas Cowboys! I love tennis and try to play a lot. I have a granddaughter now and never knew that you could love a kid more than you loved your own kids. My favorite movie is Moonstruck. My friends reenacted scenes from it at my 40th birthday party and we all regularly quote lines from the movie to each other, much to the dismay of the people around us.
