Youth Job Center has had to cancel the Backlot BBQ this year.

If you are still interested in supporting YJC please dine at KOI’s Table 23 in August, attend our Annual Meeting of the Board, volunteer with programs, or make a donation.

Over the years, YJC has contributed to the health of our community by providing support to tens of thousands of youth and young adults, working to reduce the number of young people who struggle to get on a path to a career. Our mission, “Success for young people, in the workplace and in life,” is as vital today as it has ever been.

However, the work of supporting young people as they transition out of high school and into the working world is not easy. Many of the young people Youth Job Center serves have experienced more hardships and adversity in their short lives than many adults face in their lifetime. To experience success they often have to overcome barriers such as homelessness or unstable housing, a lack of child care resources, involvement with the criminal justice system, or other significant issues. That is why it is essential to celebrate the work of our clients and staff in a way that is easily accessible. The Backlot BBQ gives us that opportunity. There are no tickets, no entrance fees, no dress codes, and no multi-hour commitments. It is simply a chance for our clients, staff, community partners, supporters, board members, and friends to come together and enjoy an evening of food, fun, and community.

We are honored to do the important work of supporting young people in employment success and hope you can join us in celebrating the work of the agency, our clients, and our community partners at our annual Backlot BBQ on Thursday September 5th, 2019, from 5:30PM - 7:30PM.

Just bring yourself, your appetite, and fun anecdotes about your relationship with YJC over the years. To RSVP for this event contact Katy Murphy at kmurphy@youthjobcenter.org. We hope to see you then!
