When did you join the YJC Board?

2007

Why did you join the YJC Board?

At the first YJC annual benefit I attended, I was blown away by the client speakers, and by their stories of how YJC had helped them. I became a YJC supporter by donating to the annual appeal and attending the annual gala. After a few years, I became more involved by doing some pro bono legal work for YJC. The more I learned about the organization, the more I saw how its grassroots work was tangibly changing the lives of so many young people for the better, and the more I realized how essential it is in our community. So, when I was asked to join the board, I welcomed the opportunity to become a champion for YJC and the amazing work that it does.

What is your occupation?

Attorney – Adjudication Counsel for the Review Board of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Illinois Supreme Court

What was your first job?

Not counting babysitting and house cleaning, which I did in middle and high school, my first "real" job was working concessions at a movie theater.

What did you learn from your first job?

That customers should always be treated with respect and good cheer, even (or especially) when that's not how they treat you. Also how to do monetary math quickly and accurately in my head, because we didn't use automated cash registers.
