What was your first job?

My first job was as a newspaper delivery boy. I was in junior high school at the time.

What did you learn from your first job?

Delivering newspapers taught me lessons that serve me to this day. On-time delivery, paper where the customer wants it, between doors when bad weather, respect other people's property by using walks and not cutting across lawns, asking politely for money due, buying the papers then delivering and collecting for them and hoping you made money. If you did your job right, you might even get a holiday card with a bonus. The job is something you give your all to. I picked up my papers at the corner drugstore after having a Chunky or Baby Ruth with a Coke for 5 cents or a Cherry Coke for 7 cents as my reward for doing a good job. It's not always fun; that's why they call it work.
