Research shows that a positive first job experience can have a huge impact on the career trajectory of a young person, increasing their earning potential and decreasing the likelihood they will experience unemployment.

As a result, every year Youth Job Center is provides a variety of Summer job opportunities as part of its Summer Corps Program. These opportunities are meant to help youth gain early exposure to potential career paths as well as provide employment experiences for an age group for which there are limited employment opportunities available.

Youth Job Center’s Summer Corps Programs include:

Summer Tutors: Work as a tutor or classroom aide, assisting teachers in Evanston/Skokie School District 65's summer school program, working with elementary and middle school students. 

ABC Boosters: Get hired as a tutor to children as they prepare to enter Kindergarten, Help them recognize numbers and letters with support from Evanston Public Library's summer literacy program.

Corporate Internships: Secure an internship with employers such as MB Financial or Beazley Insurance where you can gain work experience in a corporate business environment. 

Summer Corps programs run from June 11th until July 14th, with participants working 12-15 hours per week. To partipate you will need to:

  1. Attend a Workshop

    • Workshop’s are typically held from mid-April to Early May. Check back in Spring 2020 to see updated workshop dates for Summer Corps 2020.

  2. Attend a Youth Job Center Orientation

    • Orientation dates are usually in mid-May and often take place at Youth Job Center’s office in Evanston. Check back in Spring 2020 for updated information.

  3. Turn in your paperwork to secure your spot.

    • Paperwork is typically due by the end of May. Check back in Spring 2020 for updated information.
