Dear Friends,

We’re excited to share with you YJC’s Strategic Plan, which our board just reviewed, revised, and re-adopted. This adaptive plan, originally approved in November 2017, is reviewed each year to see if there are contextual factors, both internal and external to our agency, that require we shift our work in unanticipated ways, keeping our plan fresh and relevant.

Since the plan’s approval in 2017, YJC's staff and Board of Directors have conducted an annual review, looking at accomplishments and revisiting the goals set, often arriving at the decision that the plan’s goals were still the right ones and that the plan continued to point us in the right direction. This year however we engaged our staff and board in a much deeper, conversation, which covered a wide variety of topics, and resulted in YJC’s prioritization and focus on our commitment to becoming a more equitable organization for our young people, our staff, and our community. To reflect the agency’s commitment to that work we have integrated that focus into our revised strategic plan, adapting it in the following ways:

• Added an equity statement to drive our work

• Doubled the number of Key Values, adding two focused on equity

• Developed Guiding Principles for the plan

• Added objectives to each of our agency goals to ensure equity is embedded in our programmatic goals and outcomes
