IFUNANYA

AGE: 24 years old
POSITION:
Nurse practitioner
EMPLOYER: Senior living facility

Ifunanya is a native of Lagos, Nigeria, who moved to the U.S. seven years ago in search of better education opportunities. Armed with a determined spirit and a passion for nursing, she joined YJC in 2022 to get help with completing her nursing education and finding employment.

As a YJC member, Ifunanya enrolled in the Career Pathways program and took advantage of career coaching with Mo (whom she describes as “very helpful–I couldn’t have asked for someone better!”). In her words, “I have received assistance with building out my goals, guidance towards different employment paths, and consistent relief with transportation to and from my nursing program.”

Ifunanya is now a nursing practitioner making $37.50 an hour at a senior living facility and likes it so much that she plans to pursue licensure to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

“I would complete every step over again because it was worth it in the end,” she says. “I was determined and had a support system that believed in me, including my career coach Mo Anderson. … Thank you, Youth Job Center!”

Ifunanya, we’re proud of your tenacity and success! We know you’ll achieve your dreams and look forward to supporting you every step of the way.
