What do you like about your job?

I enjoy providing youth with tools inside of the community through workforce development, workshops addressing social/economic barriers, direct resources and so many other approaches.

Where did you work before YJC?

Before YJC, I worked with a non-profit working on the ground to help prepare students with life after high school whether that was university, a trade or a gap year to focus on saving money towards the next step.

What was your first job?

My first job was with the Chicago Park District as an intern.

What did you learn from your first job?

It really assisted in highlighting the importance of pouring back into my community.

Has your career path gone how you expected?

It has not. I was recently on track to become a professor teaching Women’s and Gender Studies. And although it is something I am passionate about; I have decided to go back to receive my PhD in non-profit management. My goal is to help dismantle systematic barriers to provide Black LGBTQIA+ direct resources, especially on the southside of Chicago.

Fun fact:

I love to thrift every Monday around Chicago. I also enjoy traveling to other cities to thrift as well.
