Andre was born and raised in Chicago and, growing up, was unsure if he would find success as an adult. In middle school, Andre was unfortunately expelled due to his gang affiliation. However, he did not let this bring him down! Andre graduated high school in 2018 and joined the United States Marine Corps. The Marines helped Andre overcome the mental barriers he felt were holding him back from success.

He shared that the Marines taught him what was right and introduced him to the real world. Andre left the Marines as a Corporal.

After Andre’s contract with the U.S. Marines ended, adjusting and applying his newfound skills to the civilian world was difficult. While searching for his next steps, Andre found YJC. After enrolling in our programs, he met his Career Coach and shared that he wanted to receive his Commercial Driving License (CDL). Andre was excited about what was next and shared that YJC interested him because YJC allows “space for young, educated men and women to trailblaze a path ahead.”

Andre finished his six-week CDL Training Program at 160 Driving Academy in January. Soon, he hopes to start working in a CDL Class A truck driving position and continue to be successful. He is thankful that YJC has been able to help him achieve these milestones on his pathway to success.
