Juan is a born and raised Chicagoan living on the city’s South side. Juan came to YJC already working at Garrett’s Popcorn Shops, hoping to obtain a Class-A CDL License to advance his career. His older brother, Mauricio, previously used YJC’s Career Pathways program to receive his CDL and referred Juan to our programs. In June 2021, Juan became a YJC client, excited about the opportunity to advance his career.

YJC helped cover the cost of Juan’s training program, supplies, uniform, and more. This allowed Juan to focus on his training program while saving money. Juan completed his training program, received his Class-A CDL License, and was promoted to a Light Truck Driver!

YJC provided him with the support he needed to get to the next step in his career – resume preparation, application support, and mock interviews. He shared that the most important thing he’s learned since working with YJC is, “to be work ready, on time, and keep your resume on point.” Juan is excited about his career path and is looking forward to his future. He encourages other young people who need employment assistance or additional training to enroll in YJC.
