• Keep it simple

  • Skip fancy graphics

  • Be sure it’s formatted properly.

  • Use action verbs

  • Spotlight your achievements

  • Follow the 1-page rule

  • Choose a font and stick to it (Times New Roman, Arial, Nova, Calibri)

  • Don’t include references

  • Make sure there is plenty of white space / that the resume’s not cluttered

  • Put your most recent job experience first

  • Add volunteer or other experience

  • REVIEW! Make sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors

  • Always attach a PDF of your resume to applications, NEVER a Word Doc

  • Use a summary statement, not an objective
