When did you join the YJC Board?
I joined the Youth Job Center Board in September 2025.
Why did you join the YJC Board?
I joined because YJC’s mission aligns perfectly with who I am and what I stand for, creating access, opportunity, and equity through education and workforce development. I’ve spent my career helping people see what’s possible for their lives, and YJC does that every single day. Being part of a team that empowers young people to build confidence, gain experience, and step into their purpose is exactly the kind of impact-driven work that speaks to my soul.
What is your occupation?
I’m the Manager of the Career & Transfer Center at Oakton College, where I lead a dynamic team focused on career readiness, transfer success, and community partnerships. My work centers on connecting education to opportunity, helping students align their goals with real pathways that lead to personal and professional growth.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a camp leader.
What did you learn from your first job?
Being a camp leader taught me how to lead with patience, empathy, and enthusiasm. It showed me the power of connection, how a little encouragement can help someone step out of their comfort zone and discover their strengths. That experience shaped my leadership style and deepened my passion for mentoring and developing others.
