What do you like about your job?

I find being a People Operations Manager an incredibly fulfilling role. This role allows me the opportunity to positively impact employee well-being and help shape a vibrant company culture. I enjoy the challenge of problem-solving in HR, whether it's streamlining processes or employee engagement strategies. The role's data-driven nature, focus on supporting coworkers, and continuous learning also keeps me motivated and engaged in my work.

Where did you work before YJC?

For the past two years, I worked as an Operation Manager at a startup tech company called Vokal. I learned a lot in this role and made quality friendships, but at the same time, I was ready to get back into the nonprofit sector and work with a more mission-based organization.

What was your first job?

Lifeguard.

What did you learn from your first job?

Working as a lifeguard for 6 years, I learned a variety of skills and knowledge to ensure the safety of individuals at aquatic facilities. It required a combination of physical skills, knowledge, and the ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.

Has your career path gone how you expected?

I firmly believe that every choice in our career path serves a purpose, guiding us towards our true calling. Throughout my professional journey, I've consistently sought opportunities with mission-driven companies committed to making a positive impact on the community. Despite a few pivots along the way, I've come to realize that each decision has led me to the exact place I'm meant to be.

Fun fact:

I am a jigsaw puzzle aficionado. I’ve completed a challenging 2,000-piece puzzle. I find immense satisfaction in the “aha” moments that come with piecing it together to create a beautiful image. It’s also a nice way for me to exercise my brain, practice patience, and unwind.
