What do you like about your job?

I appreciate the opportunity to work alongside young people to help them define their own path and what success looks like for them. Working with YJC and all of our incredible partners helps to provide these young people access to the opportunities and supports they deserve, and I am proud to be a part of such an amazing team creating truly transformational change in our community.

Where did you work before YJC?

I most recently worked as a Program Manager for the North Chicago Community Partners, helping to bridge the low-income achievement gap in the North Chicago schools so that all students can have access to the high-quality education they deserve. As part of the community-school model we worked closely with the school district, private and public partners and volunteers to provide services not only to the students, but to the entire community based on expressed needs and community surveys/outreach.

What was your first job?

My first job was as a camp counselor at the Wildkit Basketball Camp at ETHS.  It was an amazing program that I once was a camper at, and it was really cool to have things come full circle and to see and be on the other side when I started working there.

What did you learn from your first job?

I quickly learned about punctuality, preparedness, and how to save money. All very important. I also learned what it meant to serve others, to lead by example and how much of an impact strong, caring and dedicated leadership and team members have on the success of a program or organization.

Has Your career path gone how you expected?

Not exactly. I originally planned on being a sports agent or coach, which I experienced a bit of. I took some non-profit management classes in college and really got into it my senior year, which changed my career path a bit. My family is in the non-profit service world as well, so it was somewhat of a natural transition. I appreciate the journey and love where I have landed so it definitely worked out overall.

Fun Fact

I love to travel.  I lived and went to school in France/Monaco for a year while working on my Master's degree and was able to travel across Europe during my time there. I would love to be able to help send every young person on a trip of their dreams.
